Origin: Gulf of Mexico, East Coast, or Panama
With a name meaning “very strong” in Hawaiian, the Mahi Mahi is a ray-finned fish found in tropical and sub-tropical waters. Due to their healthy populations, size, strength, and quality of meat, the Mahi Mahi is sought after by many sports fisherman, but it has found its way in recent years to most seafood restaurants. A mild fish, Mahi Mahi is available year round and has large and moist flakes. Texturally, the Mahi Mahi is tender-to-firm, and it tastes sweet with a mild, pronounced flavor.
